Gifts 12-28-08

Gifts surround my Christmas tree
from all the ones I love -
but none surpass the perfect gift
of Jesus up above.

That Empty Rocker 12-27-08

Pull up that empty rocker - and spill your problems Dear.
I may have no solutions but my memory is clear.

No one can steal the memories - the memories I know -
of pine trees holding branches up - though drooping under snow.

There's only good in cold lakes if we're the frozen duck -
and that's how we find blessings - when we are down in luck.

No. Nothing's ever perfect - and we're not always glad,
unless we see the blessings - in both the good and bad.

We slide down every hillside - with chilly hands and toes -
but sunshine on our faces - should be how sledding goes.

I was told to "stick it out". It is what I was taught.
Yes, he and I were loving - despite what others thought.

Oh, often there were trying times - priorities to sort -
and working close together, our tempers could run short.

It took some perseverance when I was "up to bat",
but giving up comes easy - and many do just that.

Unlike many moms and dads, we always stuck together,
but Christmas time was special in any kind of "weather".

My gifts were quite abundant under every Christmas tree -
but what I lacked in substance I could hold in memory.

He wasn't always thoughtful, at Christmas year to year -
but he was my tremendous gift, as he was always here.

I know your troubled marriage. I sense it's no more fun -
but notice all my gifts are here - all my gifts but one.

Family Christmas 12-17-08

Aside from better and the worse,
aside from workers so perverse,
aside from friends who are diverse,
time with those I most converse,
is family.

Aside from jokes on my behalf,
aside from every quip or gaffe,
aside from the whole office staff,
time with those I'd rather laugh,
is family.

Aside from worldly wisdom's trend,
aside from strangers I befriend,
aside from those I can depend,
time with those I'd rather spend,
is family.

Aside from all the lights I see,
aside from all the joy and glee,
aside from any Christmas tree,
the all important thing to me,
is family.

Christmas 12-16-08

.
Christmas is a time to care,
A time to love with gifts to share.
Lift your voice, sing carols out -
for that's what Christmas is about.

Lights Of Christmas 12-16-08

.
With people running to and fro
Christmas time would come and go.
All in smiles, in sunshine grow -
but I, in blackness, could not glow.

Inside living differently,
sorting through my mess -
yet nothing changed inside of me
Confused I lived in darkness.

Christmas days - I'd learn to cope,
I'd live through each quite aimless.
But this time though - a speck of hope,
pierced right through my darkness.

This Christmas night - a manger scene,
was lit under the blackness.
I saw it no more as routine -
as something pierced my darkness.

A simple manger in the night
that only God could bless.
And just that little speck of light
pierced right through my darkness.

That night a star - shone up above,
so bright the night could not suppress.
And that was when - a speck of love
pierced right through my darkness.

I saw that day - a baby boy,
Surrounded by all humbleness.
And then I knew - a speck of joy
pierced right through my darkness.

As I felt my sorrows cease,
and knelt there to confess,
was then I felt - a speck of peace
pierced right through my darkness.

I heard behind me snickering
I felt the chilly breeze.
but it was there I saw the light
while praying on my knees.

That blackness in me fell apart.
I knew there at that stable,
a light had pierced my buried heart.
I glow - for He is able.

Humble Child 12-15-08

.
Dreams, a wish, a want and cloud,
I chased a rainbow all allowed....
I saw futility.

Career, work, a job and more,
opportunities, times, an open door....
I grasped futility!

I entered life I could not shut -
in filth and mud - then in a rut....
I wore futility!

I scaled the ladder - oh, so high -
the lights below I couldn't buy....
I lived futility!

In total darkness, there I was -
you asked me "why"? I said "because"....
In full futility!

Then humbled there, I saw a child,
as I looked down, He saw I smiled....
- and then He set me free.

The Pain Of Sin 12-14-08

.
It has started every war.
Don't believe, and see what is in store.
It deceives. It’s rotten to the core.
Sin's killed millions – hundreds of millions -
and it will kill millions more.

Have you ever cried and screamed out loud - to stop man's ugly riot?
Someone lies to everyone. Despite all efforts, you can't forget.
Have you had nightmares, where you're in pain, and break out in a sweat?
Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night - when it is all but quiet?

Have you ever cried and screamed out loud - but no one hears a peep?
Someone wrongs you, no one hears - as pain hits bottoms' deep.
Have you had nightmares, where you're in pain, but have no tears to weep?
Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night - and can't go back to sleep?

Have you ever cried and screamed out loud? You've heard the same old song.
Someone hurts a lot of folk. You could see it all along....
Have you had nightmares, where you're in pain, though you have done no wrong?
Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night - and knew you don't belong?

Have you ever cried and screamed out loud - and yelled, "I told you so!"
but it doesn't do a bit of good - as you hear their hot air blow?
Have you had nightmares, where you're in pain, because of "quid pro quo"?
Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night – and sometimes yell out "NO!"?

Have you ever cried and screamed out loud - but it's all inside your head?
Someone kills a lot of folk - and you can see them dead?
Have you had nightmares - where you're in pain? Could it be you instead?
Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night - as you see it ahead....?

It has started every war.
Don't believe, and see what is in store.
It deceives. It’s rotten to the core.
Sin's killed millions – hundreds of millions -
and it will kill millions more.

Where Is The Greater Love? 12-14-08

.
Where is the greater love?

when someone hugs another,
when a wee one hugs her mother,
when strangers hug each other?

Where is the greater love?

when a king respects his base,
when two enemies embrace,
when a smile grows on a face?

Where is the greater love?

in those who haven't any clue,
in those who cannot follow through,
in forgiving those who know not what they do?

Where is the greater love?

when truth is now uncovered,
when a babe is soon discovered,
when sacrifice is finally covered?

Where is the greater love?

when one forfeits his very gun,
when presents are for merely fun,
when God gave us His only Son?

Where is the greater love?

Shattered Glass 11-24-08

A gold fish swam to the glass.
It's tail fin made the water stir,
against the glass. It peered beyond,
but it could swim no further.

I reached too - but couldn't through.
That invisible glass prevented me.
Surviving in our own little worlds
isn't always meant to be.

We have eyes but what deceives?
For everything will come to pass -
this side of the present tense,
and out beyond the solid glass.

Sins law, like glass, invisible.
It's nothing but a deadly lie.
I reached but couldn't feel His touch.
It held between my God and I.

I was deep in waters sin.
Within there is no air.
There is no grace inside the law -
and faith cannot live there.

But then one night some time ago,
in quiet stillness, the world heard,
A star shone bright above a babe.
Something big on earth occurred.

He reputed worldly wisdom -
His death on earth did pass,
but heard before that quiet night -
the shout that shattered glass....

"Abba, Father" shattered it.
Sin's law in pieces, everywhere -
forgotten, forgiven, gone.
Grace unlocked us from despair.

Hope washed us ever closer.
Free from circling without breath,
free from sinful bondage where,
the wages of sin is death.

Some day soon we'll see our graves -
yet sin no longer holds us slaves.
The glass is broken. Make no waves -
just tell the world that Jesus saves!

Darkness, wickedness -
I'll not allow. (vs. 12)
SALVATION'S helmet,
I take now. (vs. 17)

His burden, light. (Matt. 11:30)

Wheel Barrel Christian 11-20-08

I pulled you hard from deep within,
from a trash heap dead in sin.
From your true and certain peril -
I lifted you - a wheel barrel.

You long outlasted rusty peers
and persevered for many years.
Diligent, you worked all day -
never asked an ounce of pay.

Your tire worn - you didn't care.
At times you'd need a little air.
Your wooden sides were warped and bowed
but never once, refused a load.

Working streets or fields of clover
you, at times, would tip right over.
Though humbled there, one might expect,
you hadn't any disrespect.

So willing you, without excuse -
would faithful take all sins abuse.
Whether weeds or rocks contained,
you never, ever once complained.

And burdened down with dirt or stone,
you never once had worked alone -
for I was there - I pushed a bit,
because I knew you'd never quit.

I gave you every push and shove -
but did it all in Godly love.
Yes, you surpassed the near and far,
and you, my faithful servant are.

2 Peter 1:4-8 (NASB)
4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.

5 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge,

6 and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness,

7 and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love.

8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Think About It.... 11-19-08

.
There's a fork in the road.
I'm looking for a new career.
I choose one or the other,
Now where do I go from here?

There's a rock in my path.
I must make it clear.
I work hard to roll it off,
Now where do I go from here?

There's brush on the trail.
I really must persevere.
I work a lot to clear it,
Now where do I go from here?

Troubles are a way of life
and never disappear.
I've tried to fix all my troubles,
Now where do I go from here?

When I am on my deathbed,
and life is in the rear.
What do I look forward to,
And where do I go from here?

That Trampled Rose 11-18-08

I so remember long ago
a Fair had came to town.
People talked for many weeks
and came from miles around.

There was one of several contests -
two roses were compared.
It seemed like only yesterday
the way the people stared....

A mass of people circled,
around the roses, stood;
but sitting in my wheel chair,
I couldn't see too good.

One received the highest prize
the other one was tossed;
as people cheered the winner and,
ignored the one that lost.

And for the rose that lost its case?
The judge just cast aside.
It then was trampled under feet.
Its owner nearly cried.

The winning rose was held up high -
for all the world to see;
The people crammed around it close,
and oh, they did agree.

For a better look, some in back
stood high on their tip toes
shuffling for best position
still trampling on that rose.

Then finally, a little boy
'bout two or three years old,
snatched that dead old flower
and brought to me to hold.

It's stem was crushed so thoroughly.
It wasn't very long.
Hardly recognizable -
with most it's petals gone.

I wanted nothing of it -
oh, to see the other rose!
But I sat in my wheel chair.
That's how the story goes.

The boy stood right beside me -
He thought he'd done me good.
He never said a single word,
he just misunderstood.

There on my lap it laid until
I got back to my room.
I tossed it in the trash can as -
it would not ever bloom.

But oh, a few days later,
the County Fair had passed;
when all the excitement dwindled,
when people left at last....

I unburied that dead rose,
and pressed it in a book;
and now when I'm discouraged,
I take another look.

Pressed deep within the pages
of Psalm One-hundred-three;
I often think of that small boy -
the love he showed to me.

The winning rose has long since passed -
gone, its worldly shine.
Though others long for other things,
that trampled rose?  Still mine.

UNWANTED 11-13-08

Why do some complain so much, when they've so much to gain;
and others weep so bitterly? I think they're all insane.

I would have smelled the roses, ignored those thorny stems;
and gladly traded places, with anyone of them.

I wasn't ever wanted, by mother or by dad;
and not to even have a right to live - was really sad.

Birth certificate? Oh no - for I got all the blame;
and I was too unwanted - to even get a name.

Tossed into a trash can - was found among the muck;
survived that botched abortion. Some would call that "luck".

Yes, an angel found me, soothed my many fears;
wrapped me in a towel, washed me with her tears.

Rocking very patiently, she knew what was in store;
but hugged me tightly in her arms, for she could do no more.

Many rights protect us, from beatings and abuse;
but "life" just doesn't matter now, if one decides to choose.

I had no right to ask for help - even if I could.
She had to let me fade away - for no one understood.

Rights are very twisted things, Some get them. I did not;
so go about your duties now, for I am best forgot.

Why do some complain so much? Let's make this very plain.
It all comes down to money - when wisdom's down the drain.

Now I'm held in Jesus' arms, within His warm embrace;
"Lord please, for this kind angel, reserve a special place...."

"a special place right next to me, to cry and hug again.
where we can share eternity, together, please. Amen."

Now That's Christmas!! 11-10-08

.
Sending the gifts to place under the tree -
or
sending His Son - in place of me?

Presents all wrapped under colorful bows -
or
a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes?

Watching a tree, its flashing star -
or
watching three wise men come from afar?

Seeing a horse pull a grand open sleigh -
or
seeing a babe fast asleep on the hay?

Knowing that children are still waking up -
or
knowing that Jesus must drink from the cup?

Children all screaming at presents galore -
or
people all screaming, their anger outpour?

Children who struggled with patient surprise -
or
Jesus who struggled with tears in His eyes?

Proof there was chocolate I got with a whiff -
or
proof that God loves us with His special Gift?

Gifts from our mother and father we love -
or
gifts of blessings from our Father above?

Sharing the truth with each, one another -
or
sharing Jesus to our sister and brother?

A warm embrace -
or
His matchless grace?

Giving -
or
forgiving?

Now that's Christmas!
The greatest gift!

Mother 10-8-08

Words describe so many things,
one beside another;
and words explain so very much
but can’t describe my mother.

If a picture’s worth a thousand words -
each word, a pound of letters;
then mother surpasses sunsets,
and pounds of gold from debtors.

She’s worth a million smiles,
she carries many scars;
her worth, a million rainbows,
her value exceeds stars.

Yes, mother is quite different -
and the only one I get.
And I'm the one she could afford.
I love her quite a bit.

So what explains my mother?
What’s in my vast report?
And what describes my mother when,
ALL my words fall short?

We shared so many memories,
our hearts shared many years;
so what describes my mother is -
the love inside my tears....

Proverbs 31:(KJV)
10"Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised."

World's Apart 11-8-08

EVERY DAY, God shows us our imperfection -
by giving us an imperfect world.

Men with pride, and a world of governments.
Men with deception, and a world of ways to fall off high mountains.
Men with anger, and a world of volcano's.
Men with tempers, and a world of earthquakes.
Men with confusion, and a world of thick, dark rain forests.
Men with hate, and a world of hurricanes and tornado's.
Men with lust, and a world of deserts.
Men with greed, and a world of floods.
Men who are wild, and a world of wild animals.
Men who get drunk, and a world of waters for drowning.

Yes, EVERY DAY, God shows us our imperfection -
by giving us an imperfect world.
However.... INSIDE this imperfect world is yet another world -
of perfection and of beauty and of miracles.

The perfection of an atom.
-of a dry seed planted.
-of the balance of the heavens.

The beauty of a rose.
-of a hummingbird.
-of a sunset.

The miracle of life.
-of healing.
-of the cross.

Only God creates.
Only God heals.
Only God can.

Yes, INSIDE this imperfect world is yet another world -
of perfection and of beauty and of miracles.

Isn't God showing us something?
Do we have eyes?
Isn't God telling us something?
Do we have ears?
Hasn't God proved something?
Do we really know?

Imperfection to show perfection.
Imperfection to understand perfection.
Imperfection to prove perfection.

Can we see the picture here?
Do we hear the message?
Will we ever understand?

Imperfection to perfection.
Outer flesh to the inner heart.
By grace through faith.

Man blames God - but God is Love.
Man sends big earth movers - but God sent Jesus.
Man yearns - but God holds.

The outside world of flesh - to the "heart" of perfection.
Hell and damnation - to everlasting life....
World's Apart.

Do Not Wait 11-07-08

It's not too late. It's not the end,
if now you start to comprehend.
It's not too late to understand,
the beauty of God's grace at hand.

So realize it's all of grace,
about His love, about His face -
to focus on and answer, "yes".
It's not too late to now profess.

It's not too late if tears you shed,
though you may be on your deathbed.
If humbled heart can ask Him now.
It's not too late to repent now.

Satan claims the time has passed,
but Jesus' grace has so surpassed,
the limits of all man and beast.
You're only late if you're deceased.

So do not think at this late date,
that it is over - it's too late.
God patiently awaits your word.
He loves you more than beast or bird.

Can you not see Him at the gates?
Your solemn vow He still awaits.
He has called and you will see,
if broken, crumbled, meek will be.

The promises of God above,
will so surpass all earthly love,
where rust and rot and all decays,
where earthly focus never pays.

Through faith in Him you'll always find,
(so be ye humble, be ye kind)
contentment and a lasting peace,
where sinful guilt and anguish cease.

Don't be greedy. Don't be proud,
No arrogance - is there - allowed.
So call to Him both man and wife,
that you may have eternal life.

He will carry you on through,
If faith's in Him and not in you.
So call on Him - shed burdens weight.
Pray right now and do not wait.

More Than Words 11-2-08

Reciting prayers for two thousand years
won't make them anymore truthful -
and reading, planning all day long,
won't make us anymore fruitful.

And where is the prayer when it is spoke
if no one understands it?
Where are the prayers when acts don't match,
with words and acts so split?

A cake might be the perfect one and hungry eyes may lurk -
but the oven must be hot enough for everything to work.
And cakes are more than recipes and more than ingredients.
Prayers cannot exist alone - but take obedience.

While birth is more than birth pangs and a baby we're proud of.
Love is more than marriage and, God is more than love.
Life is more than a beating heart - one sparrow, more than birds.
And life is more - once it's lived - as a prayer is more than words.

Worn Out 11-2-08

.
I can see but I can't see.
I can hear but I can't hear.
I can sing but I can't sing.
I can fear but I can't fear.
I can love but I can't love.
I can grow but I can't grow.
I can live but I can't live.
I can know but I can't know.

Like road run over many time,
I wrinkle, crack, become the grime.
For years the world has crushed me down
and turned my innards gritty, brown.

The sin of man with fire's roar,
has burned me to my inner core.
It's sent me on a beaten track
and soot has turned me satan black.

It pulled the flesh right off my skin.
It takes nutrition, makes me thin.
It's thrown my bones both far and near
and tells me I belong right here.

I can see but not Your face.
I can hear but not for hours.
I can sing but not in tune.
I can fear but not Your powers.
I can love corrupted space.
I can grow - not healthy though.
I can live but I can't give.
I can know but I don't glow.

Dear Lord and Savior, hear my plea.
There's really nothing left of me.
Take me home to live with thee.
Help me die that I might see.

Die to self and all that haunts.
Die to "things" and all that flaunts.
Please rip my soul from deep within,
then pave me white - renew again.

I was pounded ear to ear
with traffic noise, I couldn't hear,
Blind from dirt, I couldn't see.
Dear Lord and Savior, forgive me.

Help me see Your splendid face.
Help me hear You every hour.
Help me sing a life in tune.
Help me fear but not to cower.
Help me love that greatest gift.
Help me grow in faith and deed.
Help me live that I could give.
Help me go and spread the seed..

Blot out now the earthly scrawl.
These words cannot explain it all.
You can hear and You can see -
so Holy Spirit - enter me.

Prologue

“I’m not an expert writer
and never claimed to be.

I hold no degree.

Friends suggested that I put
this collection into book form
so I did.

2004 – 2008
Special thanks I give to all my friends -
for their help, support, knowledge and patience with me.

This world is filled with greed, lust, envy, deceit,
hatred, war, and death....

Therefore, I pray that these writings inspire you,
that you would reflect God's love
and reflect Christ's light
in this dark world of sin.

There is no substitute for God's precious gift
of grace through His precious Son, Jesus.

Believe it. Faithfully pray, and live it out.

I have no interest in 30 pieces of silver.
There will never be a penny of profit on any of these poems.
ALL proceeds will go to spreading the Word.

Mark 16:15 (KJV)
"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."

Focused on God, by grace through His Son,
through faith, steadfastness,
and personal love and charity.

Tickled Ears 11-1-08

We do things in life to make our ourselves happy.
remembering also, our friends and our family.
Sometimes we say things to make someone proud.
If others can hear us we might say them loud.

Compromise happens if jobs we must keep,
even though words come in multitudes, cheap.
Here we might bend - or waver some there,
but why does it matter and why should we care?

Sometimes it goes on for years and for years,
as everyone listens with fun-tickled ears.
But truth must ignore both the wink and nod....
Should we care what man thinks - or rather God?

2 Timothy 4:3 (NASB)
"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,"

Child-like Faith 11-1-08

You spanked me when I stole or lied,
yet always hugged me when I cried.
When I knew not just what to do,
I trusted you to see me though.

I felt so safe from all the crime,
as you helped me in your spare time.
Remember visits - Grandma's house,
when I spilled Kool-aid on her blouse?

I remember the circus and clowns;
Elephants, tigers – all the sounds.
I love the animals in our zoo,
but mostly mommy, I love you.

Last year, mom, when I was seven,
You spoke of Jesus, God in Heaven.
Please hold my hand, it's dark tonight.
Jesus holds my other, tight.

Your eyes say I won't make it through,
but I know Jesus loves me too.
You're worried, mom, but please don't be -
Jesus has reached down to me.

I see big scars in the palms of his hands.
He must have worked hard on Heaven's plans.
Forgive me mommy when I wasn't good,
because Jesus did. He understood.

Jesus grips my other hand.
I must let go, He tugs me and -
I wish there was another way -
but let go mommy... it's okay.

Stale Bread & Smelly Fish 10-29-08

First created in His image - then threw out of Eden.
What dominion was received to plow the seeds of men?

Satan owns deception, and this is his proposal:
"World's tools you cannot use. They're all at my disposal".

But yet, those very tools, that lies could not destroy;
helped Jesus feed five thousand - with food from one small boy.

Did he pay attention, when he heard Jesus' call?
Or did he wait for someone else’s food to feed them all?

What if no one listened? What if no one shared?
What if no one bothered? What if no one cared?

Did intimidation strike him - with grownups to compare?
What if he stood silent? Would everybody stare?

I'm sure the bread was stale. I'm sure the fish was smelly -
and who made him responsible to feed their hungry belly?

What if doubts were planted - not knowing if he could?
What if faith and fish and bread – seemed so little good?

Was he called to do such things - to worry 'bout the present?
Or was he called to preach the Word? Are words the full intent?

Do we think there's someone else - who God will call by name,
and therefore won't engage ourselves? Who then would be to blame?

But Jesus proved His miracles, with meager food and powers;
God created fish and bread - then blesses us with ours.

Did Jesus sit in synagogues? Was He not salt and light?
And did He reach beyond those doors? Did He not lead the fight?

The "experts" did not like Him. He wasn't keeping quiet.
He questioned all their politic. Their answer then was riot.

Three times disciples fell asleep, so tell me if you please;
Were they really faithful as He wept there on His knees?

Please, can someone tell me, Is faith without works dead?
Was Jesus really faithful when – the thorns cut deep, His head?

Was Jesus really faithful then - with shouts of insults said?
Was Jesus really faithful, when on the cross He bled?

Was Jesus really faithful - our nails, He took instead?
Was Jesus really faithful - when life hung by a thread?

Now tell me - was He faithful when they pronounced Him dead?
And can anybody tell me - that words suffice instead?

Jesus sweat before that cross - but works, did not subdue;
for Jesus did not only pray - He also followed through.

I suppose it's time to ask myself - (regarding that young boy),
Have I sat in idleness - and with it, helped destroy?

What impact do I have today? What is my greatest wish?
Did that small boy surpass me with - stale bread and smelly fish?

Futility 10-18-08

Futility:
is a cry unheard -
or a star unseen.

Futility:
is a dictionary never opened -
or eyes that cannot read.

Futility:
is a termite encased in a metal box -
or seeds, in a sealed package, never planted.

Futility:
is the worlds most beautiful flower in a forest unseen -
or the greatest sermon preached - to an empty room.

Futility:
is a microphone unplugged -
or headphones on deaf ears.

Futility:
is a world of envy -
or a state of hate.

Futility:
is deceptiive love -
or worthless riches.

Futility:
is kissing a toad -
or hugging a flag pole.

Futility:
is outside a fancy door, doing nothing -
or opening the biggest door to nowhere.

Futility:
is the hardest worker, with no understanding -
or the greatest mind in a body never worked.

Futility:
is a hole dug - just before caving back in -
or the greatest, tallest mountain of debt.

Futility:
is a king without his subjects -
or subjects without their king.

Futility:
is having been given an unusable brain -
or given a mind which is thoughtless.

Futility:
It's doom, agony, despair, life without purpose -
It's fruitless, full of pain and hopelessness.

Futility:
It's sin, the absence of appreciation -
It’s lacking thankfulness for every blessing.

Futility:
It's death on a cross without sufficient grace -
It’s the great deceptive arrogance of 'works' by man.

Futility.
It comes in many shapes and sizes -
It thrives like a stubborn weed - when faith is weak.

Futility:
It's life without faith in the almighty God -
or lifelessness without His grace, under cold sod.

LOST? 10-13-08

Are you listening? Are you troubled? Is anybody there?
Does anybody know your pain? Does anybody care?
I guess you can't be hopeful for the world to understand -
that pain is so immense when clay is formed with potters' hand.

I know affliction pained the God who sent His Son to die,
for us, who spent our time in ways - that lent to Satan's lie.
In seconds, minutes, hours - in years, months, weeks and days,
We've locked up so much precious time - in all our selfish ways.

I know He understands you and - He knows your every pain -
because He's pulled this very clay from each and every chain.
Chains that seemed so innocent and chains that seemed so right,
but chains that I locked on myself and chains that I clasped tight.

Are you listening? Are you troubled? Is anybody there?
Does anybody know your pain? Does anybody care?
We do - your family. I do. Though just a Christian friend,
I know that grace trumps judgment - where guilt and suffering end.

He understands you fully. Its you He wants to heal.
Jesus went before you and He knows just how you feel.
Creations' GOD still cries out loud when molding you because,
the God of Love (who had to send - His Son here) surely does.

What Value? 9-21-08

What value are birds - without their wings?
What value is music - if no one sings?
What value is law - without pursuit?
What value are works - without good fruit?

What value are lungs - without the air?
What value are fathers - never there?
What value is wisdom – if not begun?
What value is Christmas - without God's Son?

What value are scythes - without the weeds?
What value is harvest - without the seeds?
What value are ovens - if not hotter?
What value is clay - without the potter?

What value are baths - without the soap?
What value is grace - without the hope?
What value are answers - without questions?
What value are tears – without confessions?

What value is hope - if we're naive?
What value is faith - if we can't believe?
What value is kindness - without the prayer?
What value are actions - if can’t be spared?

What value are judges - if they aren't fair?
What value is Heaven - if we aren't there?
What value is cycling - without fitness?
What value are Christians - who bear no witness?

Matthew 10:(KJV)
32Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.... 37He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 39He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. 40He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

Matthew 19:(NASB)
29 "And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms for My name's sake, will receive many times as much, and will inherit eternal life.
30"But many who are first will be last; and the last, first."

One Precise Location 9-16-08

There’s one precise location - where lies and truths abide.
It's proven in this big old world where sin and love collide.
With fights and angry battles, with bombs and deadly wars -
yet also acts of kindness - love, forgiveness, open doors.

Now if all wars were ended - and battles could subside,
and wars’ dust finally settled - and guns were set aside;
still sin and love would be at war – battling years and years,
and sin would deceive many - as love would dry the tears.

Deep down inside all soldiers of war torn battled states,
and way down deep inside us all - are two specific gates.
The 'will' that we were given and the trails we would choose,
are sin that shuns, or love that puts - us in our Godly shoes.

Was Jesus much too busy - to heal a withered hand,
to heal the blind or heal the lame - so we might understand?
Jesus loved His enemies – even while on the cross,
and how we love each other is - deep below our gloss.

God still loves the least of these. I cannot answer why,
but when I stumbled on that truth, it made this old man cry.
From one precise location, our Lord was ripped apart.
That very place for our own cross, is deep within our heart....

Matthew 5:44-45 (NASB)
"But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”

Jesus 9-13-08

.
Jesus never hurt anyone.
Jesus never turned away from a need.
Jesus healed.
Jesus fed.
Jesus helped.
Jesus loved.

Yet the world hated Him.
Why?

The world condemned Him.
The world charged Him.
The world judged Him.
The world mocked Him.
The world hung Him.
The world killed Him.
The world still uses His name in vain.

Why?

What kind of reward is that for helping, healing, and loving others?
How do we respond to this truth?
Do we care?

We are - either ‘hot’ or ‘cold’ – not lukewarm.
God so loved the world that He gave.
Jesus so loved that He gave himself.
How much are we willing to give?

What have we done?

The Great Commission 9-10-08

.
I have no time that I can spend,
and have no pain that I can mend.
I have no notion I can be,
yet have this image I can see.

I feel a sorrow I can't share,
and feel a pain I cannot bear.
I feel a breeze I cannot clutch,
so can I feel the Master's touch?

I swallow food I do not grow,
and swallow facts I do not know.
I swallow pills I do not taste,
yet swallow words which are a waste.

I hear a thunder I can't make,
and hear a wind I cannot shake.
I hear a silence - not by choice.
Do I hear that caring voice?

I know the people I can't fudge,
and know the facts I cannot judge.
I know the shepherd, not the herds,
but do I know my Saviors words?

I see a rainbow I can't chase,
and see a light I cannot race.
I see a world I cannot reach,
yet see His love that I might teach.

I love desserts I can't consume,
and love the rose that might not bloom.
I love the world I do not know,
but God so loved so should I go?

I know the things I cannot touch,
and jobs I have don't matter much.
I know the scriptures - sea to sea,
My God knows me, but do I, He?

Only One, Times Millions 9-2-08

I sit alone. The birds fly past.
They soar with wings, a world so vast.
I sit alone. A butterfly,
so beautiful, floats silent by.

I sit alone. The breezes blow.
They pass me by, but do not know.
I sit alone, the sky deep blue.
The clouds roll by. I think of you.

I sit alone. No child I know,
for you were taken, long ago.
I sit alone. Who is aware?
Who can change it? Someone care?

I sit alone, the world "removes".
The world ignores, the world approves.
I sit alone, but cannot stay.
The world forgets, so I must pray.

I go alone, just one more tear.
I cry out loud, year after year.
I go alone - now very weak.
I’ve no more tears for either cheek.

I go alone, with millions lost.
Oh, who can stop this holocaust?
I go alone, while one more throat,
is slit again. Who needs my vote?

I go alone. Nothing I say,
can bring you back to me today.
I go alone, but never you,
for you're with God. He saw you through.

only one deathly choice, times millions,
only one abortion, times millions,
only one tiny tear, times millions,
only one repenting, times millions,
only one work of grace, times millions,
only one act of love, times millions,
only one forgiving, times millions,
only one humble prayer, times millions,
only one faithful voice, times millions,
only one good work, times millions,
only one lonely vote, times millions,
- with only one almighty God - not millions…

WWJS? 8-10-08

Circumstances do arise,
for all we're going through,
and in response, we ask ourselves,
"What would Jesus do?"

She had faith and touched His hem,
His garment she could feel;
another held his treasures, so
Who did Jesus heal?

Spiritually or worldly -
will God or man we fear;
and when we say our daily prayers,
Who will Jesus hear?

Disciples, they were sleeping,
as Jesus down, did kneel;
sweating then, as drops like blood,
What did Jesus feel?

Hate and anger ruled the crowd,
propelled their sudden haste;
and as they hung Him on the cross,
What did Jesus taste?

Few are humble, many smart,
but vital is this key;
when now He looks into your heart,
What does Jesus see?

To everyone, both you and I,
death calls one final day;
so when we stand before our Judge,
What will Jesus say?

The Old Locomotive 7-24-08

The old locomotive moves "we the people" on our way.
It's gained a lot of speed from then - until right now, today.
Where is this locomotive? Where is it headed to?
We need to know - for after all - it holds both me and you.

Gold and silver limits us, so those we did not need.
With paper it was easier to satisfy our greed.
Bureaucracy has taxed us all. It taxed us as we grew,
taxes those that sell us food and taxes dishes too.

It taxes every kitchen, every bathroom, every yard.
It taxes every one of us without the least regard.
It taxes all our products and taxes all our goods.
It puts a tax right where we live and even taxes woods.

It taxes every home and car and taxes all our fuel.
It taxes every thing we have - including heat and cool.
It taxes all our income and it taxes what we sell,
and if it had ability could tax its way to hell.

Our borders have been broken and are leaving us so bare,
and then when there's a killing.... do politicians care?
They talk and talk and talk some more and find someone to blame.
but then when they are finally done - continues on the same.

In the dining car we ride - merrily on our way.
Never do we say a word lest we become their prey.
The bureaucrats that wish to ride up in that locomotive,
just do their job oblivious - to legislators' motive.

We go to work to pay some more and ship our kids to schools,
It matters not what they are taught - for we must follow rules.
But when they mess our children up - it's not their fault you see,
as every finger pointing - is at either you or me.

We get accustomed in our rut, accustomed to their cause,
because of fear, accept it all, and do not question laws.
The locomotive speeds along the tracks now ever faster,
but no one has a clue for what becomes a sure disaster.

It glides along so easily as feelings conquer facts,
but all will soon be over when it sails beyond the tracks.
With lifeless bodies everywhere - the poor to those of fame –
at least we all can rest assured - that none will point in blame.

This Old Scrap Of Burlap 7-21-08

This big, bright world,
is like a drawer full of lace,
though I feel like a leftover rag;
quite awkward, uneasy,
and so out of place.

Lace is chosen
by those with whom they connect.
and selecting their own special piece;
they want their lives
to be so perfect.

Then stew they will
when things go terribly wrong.
Their lace gets soiled, stained and tattered.
For this worlds special lace
doesn’t last too long.

They’re all sewn up,
still seeking what cannot mend....
But this leftover rag, this old scrap of burlap;
though nowhere near perfect,
is your special friend.

PRICELESS 6-17-08

PRICELESS is AIR - to a drowning man.
PRICELESS is FOOD - or starve we can.

PRICELESS, a TRUTH - that shall never flee.
PRICELESS our EYES - or we could not see.

PRICELESS our EARS - or we could not hear.
PRICELESS is PATIENCE - year after year.

PRICELESS is RUNNING - the four minute mile.
PRICELESS is SEEING - a tiny one smile.

PRICELESS is MILK - for a baby newborn.
PRICELESS is REST - for the weary and worn.

PRICELESS are YOU - my friend and much more.
PRICELESS is PEACE - for a world at war.

PRICELESS is FREEDOM - and tasting fresh air.
PRICELESS is TRUST - to someone in care.

PRICELESS is WATER - for our desert thirst.
PRICELESS is LOVE - lest we all be cursed.

PRICELESS is GOD - and His only Son.
PRICELESS is CHRIST - the Trinity, One.

PRICELESS am I - so loved, that He died.
PRICELESS is LIFE'S magnificent ride.

PRICELESS is GRACE - for a lost, dying world.
PRICELESS is FAITH - when judgment is hurled.

PRICELESS was TOUCH for this lonely, lost lamb.
and PRICELESS is KNOWING the Great God, 'I AM'.

Where Would I Be? 6-13-08

.
Lost in a wilderness without direction?
Where would I be without Jesus?

Thirsting and thirsting with nothing to quench?
What would I be without Jesus?

Storing up treasures that rust and decay?
Who would I be without Jesus?

Hearing no knock as there’s nobody there?
Where would I be without Jesus?

A tree without fruit that will wither and die?
What would I be without Jesus?

A house upon sand washed away by the rain?
Who would I be without Jesus?

Tossing and turning in waves on the sea?
Where would I be without Jesus?

Drooling in anguish and demon possessed?
What would I be without Jesus?

Crippled in body with paralyzed thought?
Who would I be without Jesus?

Drawing a net that is empty of fish?
Where would I be without Jesus?

Without understanding and totally blind?
What would I be without Jesus?

Futilely living on greed, lust and hate?
Who would I be without Jesus?

Weary, heavy-laden with no place to rest?
Where would I be without Jesus?

Among rocks and thorns left to wither away?
What would I be without Jesus?

Without loaves and fishes and nothing to eat?
Who would I be without Jesus?

Tripping and stumbling on life’s rugged trail?
Where would I be without Jesus?

A hopeless lost sheep that is locked up in chains?
What would I be without Jesus?

Hung on a cross and to pay for my sins?
Who would I be without Jesus?

And sentenced to Hades without parole?
Where would I be without Jesus?
What would I be without Jesus?
Who would I be without Jesus?

Patience 6-1-08

.
Each one of us stand here.
From God we all came.
But He molds each different.
We aren't all the same.

If God is our potter
and we are His clay;
how does He shape us -
how slow is His way?

I run in great circles -
with schedules galore;
busy with children,
opinions and more.

Though time is fast fleeting
each hour of each day;
Lord, mold within me -
great patience, as clay.

That Mighty Tree 5-31-08

A storm had bent the grasses, and brought this tree to seed,
and it became a mighty tree, a mighty tree indeed.
Nothing seemed to waver it. It was two centuries old.
Sunshine showered grace on it and turned the grasses gold.

Amassing all attention to leaves so large, serene.
Blue sky, its only limit, was hidden by its green.
The trunk had held so many limbs that grew its branches high.
The world beheld its greatness. It seemed touch the sky.

Among the several grasses, in multitudes stood we,
and too, beheld its beauty, a wonder all could see.
But holding up its branches beneath the earth was more -
roots like roadways everywhere, one evil at its core.

Within that mighty tree, deception grew and grew.
Many were deceived themselves, yet truth a handful knew.
Not blinded by its root of greed that ran so very deep,
which traveled down, taxing all, putting us to sleep.

Those of us who knew the truth, it was a sight to see,
for nothing ever crashed so hard as that big mighty tree.
From Hollywood to Washington with roots to Reapers' hell,
some enjoyed the greatest times until that big tree fell.

Those that perished quickly deserved just what they got.
The Reaper had come quickly and hesitated not.
He felled that tree and grasses within that evil gust.
That tree that put its faith in ‘green’ and not “in God we trust”.

If trust, we in ourselves alone, and lose belief in God,
we'll tax us to corruption and turn ourselves to sod.
The reaper had his hold on them firmly by the collar.
Did they see 'God almighty' or - the 'almighty dollar'?

Rocket science cannot put a value into paper,
but where the root of evil thrives turns it into vapor.
A storm against the colonies had brought this tree to seed.
The storm that felled it hard - was one of mighty greed.

Most forgot the basics that were written long ago,
but liberally, the love for more always seemed to grow.
"We hold these truths ... self-evident" once had made us free.
It only took one evil root to fell this mighty tree.

Where root of evil lingers, vast millions surely die,
the sea of green will swallow those - where love of money lie.
When multitudes become corrupt causing great upheaval,
'Love of money" is the root - the root of every evil.

This Dandelion 5-29-08

.
From the house, a father and son,
work together for the good,
a family - just like one.

They pull weeds from this perfect lawn,
so impeccable 'cept for me.
A lone weed - the rest gone....

They do this work and they never owe,
they feed and water just enough.
He mows - but lets me grow.

All the world's rules and every great law,
keeps them all busy and wind driven,
yet here I stand in awe.

Often I see father cut the lawn.
It's impeccable.
They pull weeds - 'til all gone.

The child stands near, so his father knows -
this priceless lone dandelion,
is the one that he chose.

Feeling naked as I look about,
one dandelion in a lush green lawn –
but through faith, not a doubt.

Though I’m ugly and so very wrong,
as the world creates rules.
Is this where I belong?

If grass could see, they'd scoff and sigh.
The son protecting me as-
the mower comes nearby.

Why stand I here for all to see -
imperfect on the father's lawn?
The son’s forgiven me!

All can see that I’m still a-livin'
alone here on this perfect lawn -
No, not perfect. Just forgiven.

Give And Take 5-18-08

.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave...
His only Son" - to a borrowed cave...
...for a world that put Him in that grave.

Why?

Here's an example of love and sin:
With Him, crucified, were two men,
One saw truth and then confessed,
Jesus forgave and he was blessed.
The other, self-centered, without belief,
He loved himself and died a thief.

For man so loves the world, he takes...
earning each one of his many mistakes...
...in a world where man believes he creates.

Why?

Right here on earth between truth and lie,
We look at 'success' and say, "What a guy!"
Many had thought they could conquer the earth,
or their little corner - but what was it worth?
But God's looking down in the palm of His hand.
He knows His whole world and where we all stand.

Where is our focus and what's our reply?
What is the truth that we seem to deny?
We must look at our lives and then ask ourselves,

'Why'?

For God so loved the world, He gave...
so Who do we love OR what do we crave?
There's nothing in this world to get,
unless to Jesus, we submit;
and if we crave our earthly coffer,
God has nothing else to offer.
It's no secret life's unfair,
so help me love, Lord –
that's my prayer!

Luke 23: 39 One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, "Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!" 40 But the other answered, and rebuking him said, "Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 "And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong." 42 And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!" 43 And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise."

Greater Power 5-4-08

.
A volcano could inspire me,
when sulfur’s flames shoot higher;
But I turn from temptation
and run from hellish fire.

An earthquake could defeat me,
when its shaking takes my feet.
Though I might fall or stumble
I'll not quit or retreat.

A tornado could surround me,
in deafening roaring sound;
but oh, if I am humbled,
I'll lie still on the ground.

A storm or flood could swallow me,
when sheets of water fall;
but of God's truth, Noah knew,
faith floats above it all.

Gods powers - the world will always see,
above and throughout the sea;
still, I'm amazed with greater power -
that He can still love me.

Allowed or Commanded? 4-29-08

.
God allows the evening rain - allows the morning dew.
God allows the grass to green yet makes the oceans blue.
God allows such simple things to fly around the sky.
God allows so many things but many don't know 'why'.

God allows successfulness and He allows mistakes.
God allows life-saving herbs but also deadly snakes.
Birds were then allowed to pull the worms up from the sod.
A serpent was allowed removing us from our own God.

God allowed a garden to produce for Adam's need,
then God allowed that serpent to expose his very greed.
God allowed the several plagues to circle around Job
He allows so many things to happen 'round the globe.

But God does not decide for us. He makes it very plain.
God allows that if we want - can work for world gain.
While God does not decide for us, He is in full control,
yet He allows that most of man will lose their very soul.

God allows deception, corruption, lies and sin,
yet He allowed a virgin birth to set things right again.
God demanded His own Son while holding full control.
and God allows the smallest seed to save the wretched soul

If man thinks He has fixed it all and all our work is done,
then why's the world so evil with its people on the run?
God demands not many things - though many we dismiss,
yes, man still lives oblivious and blind to the abyss.

Though Satan cannot master all creations' only God,
in ignorance man stumbles over Satan’s wink and nod.
God allows for all good things - yet He allows the bad,
but He demands an answer too - to fix what once we had.

God did not create the world that He might run it all.
He put us all in charge of it - yet knowing we would fall.
God allows us our free will to do what we might please.
so do we live it purposeful or live a life of ease?

Do we have eyes to see the truth? Tell me if you can,
Where will this whole world end up? What's written in His plan?
Do we have ears to understand? Tell me if you will,
What revelations are for us? What plans will He fulfill?

God allows so many things. What will He not control?
Does God allow so little faith - yet hold my very soul?
God commands the world now but some things does allow.
Does God accept so little faith? Who will He disavow?

If indeed, our faith is strong, as Job's was long ago,
and if our faith is in the Rock, why should we worry so?
If indeed, my faith is strong, just what have I to lose?
God allows both hot or cold. My faith I still can choose.

If we claim to be the clay, willing freely to His hands,
we must accept His final truth: God allows His own commands!
God allows so many things and this I know is true,
and God allows me in His hands. How about you?

Believe 4-25-08

Father, thank You for transportation.
Cruise control, comfy seats, air conditioning, of course heat....
but thank You, Father, most of all -
thank You for my feet.

Father, thank You for employment.
Exercise, break time, five o'clock, pay checks, insurance plans....
but thank You, Father, most of all -
thank You for my hands.

Father, thank You for knowledge.
Ears to hear, education, understanding seas and skies....
but thank You, Father, most of all -
thank You for my eyes.

Father, thank You for exploration.
Vacations, airline travel - so many things to find....
but thank You, Father, most of all -
thank You for my mind.

Father, thank You for entertainment.
Games, puzzles, hobbies, sports, carnivals, recreation, fun -
but thank You, Father, most of all -
thank You for Your Son.

Father, thank You for all beauty.
Mountain streams, meadows, fish in oceans, flying geese above...
but thank You, Father, most of all -
thank You for Your love.

Father, thank You for all creation.
Newborn babies, mothers, grandmothers, people of every race....
but thank You, Father, most of all -
thank You for Your grace.

Father, thank You for government.
Great people, great battles, great nations - many down You hurled....
but thank You, Father, most of all -
that You so loved Your world.

Father, thank You for tribulation.
Temptations, separation, disease, pain and even death....
but thank You, Father, most of all -
for choosing us by faith.

Father, thank You for Your awesome power.
Hurricanes, volcanoes, earthquakes, the forgiveness we receive....
but thank You, Father, most of all -
for helping me believe.

The Solid Rock 4-20-08

.
Because of God, there is creation.
Because of creation, there is truth.
Because of truth, there is love.
Because of love, there is grace.
Because of grace, there is Christ.
Because of Christ, there is virgin birth.
Because of virgin birth, there is perfection.
Because of perfection, there is sacrifice.
Because of sacrifice, there is crucifixion.
Because of crucifixion, there is blood.
Because of blood, there is forgiveness.
Because of forgiveness, there is death.
Because of death, there is resurrection.
Because of resurrection, there is life.
Because of life, there is joy.
Because of joy, there is peace.
Because of peace, there is hope.
Because of hope, there is belief.
Because of belief, there is faith.
Because of faith, there is study.
Because of study, there is knowledge.
Because of knowledge, there is understanding.
Because of understanding, there is duty.
Because of duty, I tell you.

On Christ the solid rock I stand, protected by His nail-scarred hand.
He leads me by the waters blue, He's everything I think and do.
My life complete - is full and free, for I rest in Him faithfully.
And certainly, some day I'll die - but in His arms I will not cry.
