Circle Of Love 1-29-13

. . . . and bring our love around again in selfless peace that has no end -
as with a circle bright and true, is love of fam'ly, love of friend -
though some may laugh while others grieve, forgiveness we can sure achieve,
through God's vast blessings scattered 'round so those in need can hence receive -
the Son of God who's virgin born - through whip and nails and piercing thorn -
our sacrifice, the ultimate - a perfect Savior, bloody, torn -
because God loved and likewise we, bring certain hope that others see -
these blessings of a risen Lord so that they too could also be
in peace that's pure as snowy dove while singing praise to God above -
while standing faithful hand in hand in this, our circle filled with love . . . .

Will The Circle Be Unbroken?
Lyrics
(written 1907 by Ada R. Habershon with music by Charles H. Gabriel)

There are loved ones in the glory
Whose dear forms you often miss.
When you close your earthly story,
Will you join them in their bliss?
(Chorus)
Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, by and by?
Is a better home awaiting
In the sky, in the sky?

In the joyous days of childhood
Oft they told of wondrous love
Pointed to the dying Saviour;
Now they dwell with Him above.
(Chorus)
Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, by and by?
Is a better home awaiting
In the sky, in the sky?

You remember songs of heaven
Which you sang with childish voice.
Do you love the hymns they taught you,
Or are songs of earth your choice?
(Chorus)
Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, by and by?
Is a better home awaiting
In the sky, in the sky?

You can picture happy gath'rings
Round the fireside long ago,
And you think of tearful partings
When they left you here below.
(Chorus)
Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, by and by?
Is a better home awaiting
In the sky, in the sky?

One by one their seats were emptied.
One by one they went away.
Now the family is parted.
Will it be complete one day?
(Chorus)
Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, by and by?
Is a better home awaiting
In the sky, in the sky?

Can The Circle Be Unbroken?
Lyrics
(`1935 - Carter family)

I was standing by my window
On one cold and cloudy day
And I saw the hearse come rolling
For to carry my mother away
(Chorus)
Can the circle be unbroken
Bye and bye, Lord, bye and bye
There's a better home a-waiting
In the sky, Lord, in the sky

Oh, I told the undertaker
Undertaker, please drive slow
For this body you are hauling
How I hate to see her go
(Chorus)
Can the circle be unbroken
Bye and bye, Lord, bye and bye
There's a better home a-waiting
In the sky, Lord, in the sky

Lord, I followed close beside her
Tried to hold up and be brave
But I could not hide my sorrow
When they laid her in the grave
(Chorus)
Can the circle be unbroken
Bye and bye, Lord, bye and bye
There's a better home a-waiting
In the sky, Lord, in the sky

Went back home Lord, My home was lonely
Since my mother she had gone
All my brothers, sisters crying
What a home so sad and lone
(Chorus)
Can the circle be unbroken
Bye and bye, Lord, bye and bye
There's a better home a-waiting
In the sky, Lord, in the sky

Zombies 8-19-12

Banana pudding, apple pie,
who wants to leave this place -
with all their friends and family
and each familiar face?

Who wants to leave these comforts now
and change their status quo?
If comforts want no changes, there's
no other place to go...

unless through faith we so believe
in Someone who is more,
in Someone who has paid the price
in Someone to live for.

But woe is he, though wealthy be
if faith is naught, when dies -
for faith is the prerequisite
for life beyond the skies.

And God speaks not through megaphone
nor through a king or queen,
but rather through our faithfulness
from Heavens yet unseen.

A still, small voice will call our names.
Be ready to go home -
for faith knows our direction but
those zombies always roam.

If claim, you are, a zombie not,
 who wanders aimlessly,
then follow quick that still, small voice
and Heaven you will see.

And if you're not a zombie
but follow God's own Son,
then love your neighbor as yourself,
attest to everyone.

And if you're not a zombie,
just following the crowd,
then clap your hands and stomp your feet
and praise your Lord out loud!!

Commonality 8-14-11

Everything in this whole world
has one great flaw in common.
Large, small, very light, or
heavier than a ton.

Some are solid, others not,
and some we hear a lot,
some are just a vision,
while others, cold or hot.

Coffee smells, alarm clocks,
computers, highway signs -
family, long vacations -
schedules, meetings, deadlines.

Tell me, what's in common here -
say, what could it be?
Cookie jars to fancy cars,
curved rainbows, scenery...

And there are many other things,
too numerous to list -
scary masks of Halloween,
to pretty morning mists.

Just ponder for a minute
the commonality -
and what effect these things have had
to others, you and me.

Just think for just a minute,
on all these things I list -
and all else you can think of -
and all else that I've missed...

So try, you just might find it -
if not, reread again -
for every thing is common here
for children, women, men.

Now if you have not found it yet,
the answer, if you care -
is that they steal attention and -
take time away from prayer...

When In Doubt 2-28-10

When friends and family disappear -
when pride and courage turn to fear -
when all is gone and all seems lost -
when spirit dies, then what's the cost?

When at a loss and don't know why -
when all we do is cry and cry.
When time goes on, but we cannot -
what if, about us, God forgot?

When sin controls and we're pitch black -
what happens if God turns His back?
Oh, what if God just didn't care
and let us fall in deep despair?

Should we give up and lose all hope -
when there's no way in life to cope?
No. God is faithful, God is just -
and in Him only, we can trust.

For God so loved - and sent His Son -
who did not quit - 'til He was done.
So when in doubt, just say a prayer -
Remember God is always there.

Horizon's Path 1-12-10

When all the richest people rest in graveyards,
before their grand possessions rot and rust,
I turn my eyes and humbly look to Heaven,
for Jesus is the only one I trust.

When all the famous celeb's rest in graveyards,
and all their loyal fans find other 'stars',
I turn my eyes and humbly look to Heaven,
for Jesus is my friend who holds the scars.

When all the greatest rulers rest in graveyards,
down underneath their oxen and their plows,
I turn my eyes and humbly look to Heaven,
for I have life which only God allows.

When all the folks around me fall to pieces,
solutions sought - but they can find them not -
I shake my head in wonder with the Heavens,
for I have Him whom they have all forgot.

When all the world can wonder why I'm happy -
and simple minds can't seem to understand,
I simply trust God's promises in Heaven,
continuing to hold His loving hand.

When friends and family wonder why I journey,
to places in my thoughts they'll never know -
horizons of my faith still kiss the Heavens,
as that's the path I'm traveling below.

Job 23 (NASB)
10 "But He knows the way I take;
When He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
11"My foot has held fast to His path;
I have kept His way and not turned aside.
12"I have not departed from the command of His lips;
I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.

Special Day 12-7-09

For God so loved the world that
He gave to us a special day -
though we were in such disarray -
He loved this world anyway.

So many search both high and low,
both east and west - and worldwide -
for anything that they decide,
can fill their emptiness inside.

We cut our trees, then water them -
and decorate with balls and bow.
We hang up lights with colored glow
and then we hang the mistletoe.

We wish to feel a special way -
spend time with friends and family.
But if we loved, we too could see
that humbleness still holds the key.

With decorations 'round the globe -
with music filled with lovely sound -
this special day is so profound -
so why has Jesus not been found?

Now do not search your hearts or minds
and don't be timid, don't be weak.
The wise men came with gifts unique.
And tell me, who did shepherds seek?

For God so loved the world that
He gave to all this special day -
not just another 'holiday' -
so shout out loud, these words today:

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas!

Priorities 4-17-09

Filling my calendar, filling my schedule.
Accomplishing the vast majority.
I cancel some - then add a few.
What's my top priority?

Would I get behind, or come out ahead -
if I happened now to drop over dead?

Career, home, and family -
Am I for God or just for me?
When life is over, what will be?
Who's the great authority?

An Amazing Miracle 3-18-09

Creation.
An amazing miracle.

A miraculous life as faith in God grows.
The greatest forest withstands the storms -
but when an acorn falls, God knows.

Creation.
An amazing miracle.

A miraculous life of piloted prayers.
A flock of birds protect each other -
but when the sparrow falls, God cares.

Creation.
An amazing miracle.

A miraculous seed crushed under strife.
The tomb was dark, the stone was sealed -
but God delivers eternal life.

Creation.
An amazing miracle.

A miraculous life as grace unfolds.
A family weeps, kisses, and loves -
but when their loved one sleeps, God holds.

Good-bye... 3-13-09

"Good-bye"...

It's easy to say to problems,
it's easy to say to a storm,
it's easy to say to the blizzard,
it's easy to live with the norm,

but hard to say to a neighbor,
and hard to say to a friend.
It's hard to say to our family,
and so hard to comprehend.

To all His friends that He saw that day,
and to His disciples, Jesus tried to say,
"Good bye, my friends, I'm about to die",
but they understood not. They didn't know why.

Would we have been grasping or awed with blank stare
if, in His midst, we were standing there?
Could we comprehend what the cross would weigh?
Would we understand - the stone rolled away?

Yet God had a purpose and part of His plan
was that Jesus leave - as He had began -
in Bethlehem humbly, without huge crowds,
then later ascending, above the clouds.

Faith knows we'll see Him in Heaven again,
so our prayers all end with a sincere "Amen".
There in His arms we'll have ample supply -
and never again hear the word "good-bye".

Endure 2-1-09

If I can't endure ridicule,
if I can't endure humility,
if I can't endure some yelling -
then how can God endure me?

If I can't endure a doctor,
if I can't endure a sore knee,
if I can't endure the waiting,
then how can God endure me?

If I can't endure my neighbor,
if I can't endure family,
if I can't endure disturbance -
then how can God endure me?

If I can't endure the messes,
if I can't endure some debris,
if I can't endure depression -
then how can God endure me?

If I can't endure a mistake,
if I can't endure stormy sea,
if I can't endure some failure -
then how can God endure me?

If I can't endure the taxing,
if I can't endure the degree,
if I can't endure government -
then how can God endure me?

If I can't endure employment,
if I can't endure my boss -
then how can I endure God's way,
and take up my own cross?

Focused Failures 1-18-09

Many will focus on money,
many will focus on fame,
many will focus on friendships,
many will focus on name.

Many will focus on family,
many will focus on courts,
many will focus on children,
many will focus on sports.

Some will focus on parties,
some will focus on news,
some will focus on women,
some will focus on booze.

Some will focus on travel,
some will focus on jets,
some will focus on sunshine,
some will focus on pets.

Few will focus on Jesus,
few will know of His grace,
few will know of His mercy,
few will look on His face.

Few will know of our Savior,
few will know of His love,
few will know of His service, and
few will see Him above.

28"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
29"Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.

Family Christmas 12-17-08

Aside from better and the worse,
aside from workers so perverse,
aside from friends who are diverse,
time with those I most converse,
is family.

Aside from jokes on my behalf,
aside from every quip or gaffe,
aside from the whole office staff,
time with those I'd rather laugh,
is family.

Aside from worldly wisdom's trend,
aside from strangers I befriend,
aside from those I can depend,
time with those I'd rather spend,
is family.

Aside from all the lights I see,
aside from all the joy and glee,
aside from any Christmas tree,
the all important thing to me,
is family.
