Stalking Us 1-22-13

You follow me and haunt me

in terrorizing ways.

Your silence keeps me guessing here

in my most frightened gaze.

Sometimes you stalk me from my left -

and sometimes from my right.

Sometimes you're right in front of me -

or just beyond my sight.

Sometimes taller, you appear,

intimidatingly -

and every day I see you here,

I simply want to flee.

To add some distance, I sometimes

accelerate my pace.

Yet matters not, my quickened step,

I can't increase the space.

You march 'lock-step' along with me

and blatantly impede -

my privacy and liberties

exacting my same speed.

I get enraged and shake my fists -

but you make your fists too.

Once and for all, I'd be so glad

to rid myself of you.

You hang around me mimicking!

I plead with you - just GO!!

I find myself at my wit's end

escaping my own shadow.

Oh yes, just like our shadows,

temptation follows us -

stalking us where e'er we go.

That's why we need Jesus.

The Least Of These 5-23-10

Well, have I made a difference
or held to some indifference -
for children still in need?

And tell me who I comfort
with many in discomfort -
and who have I to lead?

And what's my information
or worse, misinformation -
when only words I plead?

Or do I have a passion
for these, a great compassion -
and does my soul bleed?

So tell me, what's my mission
this one and great commission -
whose actions of mine seed?

And is there rich nutrition
or is there malnutrition -
and will my harvest feed?

And what is God's solution
to my new resolution -
and will His Word I heed?

And if correct decision
can trump my indecision -
He'll harvest souls indeed!

I claim inside, there is no greed -
-But just one important need.
He knows, for others, I've done much,
Therefore, give me this - I plead.

Who do I see in the mirror?
Who do I hear in my ear?
Who sets me high in position?
And whom do I put in the rear?

Who do I see in the mirror?

- It’s God who has put me here.

What must I do to be glad?
What has obstructed my pathway?
And what seems to make me so mad?

Selfishness - it makes me sad.

Where in this world is my present?
"Where", might I ask, "is my gift"?
Where's that thing that matters to me?
And where's my emotional lift?
