LOVE 2-14-13

It simply is impossible and simply is absurd -
to think that love can be defined in ordinary word.

"For God so loved the world..." and too, He had amid -
the evil forces on the earth who tortured as they did.

To love someone who helped you is a simple thing to do -
but try to love the people who have great disdain for you.

Then let them whip you- up until the pain is so intense -
it makes one wonder, if in fact, you have no common sense.

And let them make you drag a big old heavy wooden cross -
until you're so exhausted [that the path] you fall across.

And let them nail you to the beams in most horrendous way -
then mock you as you hear each word the soldiers have to say.

And let them place a homemade crown of nothing but pure scorn
that seize your brow, while poking in, with long and piercing thorn.

And let them hang you there alone in pain and agony
for all the people gathered 'round- for all of them to see.

And let them have their evil way until the bitter end -
until you finally pass away for all who ever sinned.

It simply is impossible and simply is absurd -
to think that love can be defined in ordinary word.

Coat Of Many Colors 4-15-12

If brothers plot to kill you -
they tease and taunt and gloat -
and it was taken from you -
your multicolored coat -

if sin and evil torture you -
and throw you in a pit -
if dry and dusty are those walls
yet you refuse to quit -

if try, you to convince them -
but heckles are aplenty -
if sold then into slavery -
for shekels, only twenty -

if sold again, again you are -
and lies persist unjust -
if after you are thrown in jail -
in God, you still will trust -

then after all is said and done -
and king and father see -
the tears of joy will flow again.
Forgiving there will be.

Oh, God will one day make amends
to them who were deceived -
and 'coat of many colors' is,
for those who have believed...

Plant The Seed 7-28-11

Some smoking cigs,
and drinking beer -
or walking streets
in total fear.

Some loving fights,
or reading smut -
some overweight
in gambling rut.

Some driving drunk
and smoking crack -
small screaming kids,
good morals lack.

A land of grace,
in land of sin?
Please let me know
what world I'm in.

Now up-side-down
this world is not -
so say the folks,
who have a lot.

But God still knows
the evil heart -
each evil soul,
that falls apart.

And die, they will,
so 'drunk in rum'.
I wish it not,
but day will come.

And come it will,
when all time stops -
when wrath begins
and ruling drops.

Death eternal.
Life eternal.
God external,
or internal?

So hate the sin
but love the man.
Let's plant the seed.
You know we can!

My Eraser 7-4-11

Every day I make mistakes -
they often make me ill -
but my eraser's here atop, my
error driven pencil.
It fixes all my mixed-up thoughts,
and every misspelled word -
and makes more space for other thoughts,
before my words are heard.

My eraser though, lacks power,
to fix my evil side.
It cannot mend my sinful scars -
I know, because I tried.
I frantically attempted -
but then to my dismay,
I watched as my eraser wore
entirely away.

Sin stains our selfish motives,
then guilt comes as a flood,
but erasers cannot help us -
removing sin takes blood.
And Jesus does that best of all.
Erasing takes no skill.
No, we cannot erase our sin -
but Jesus can, and will.

Nervous? 5-11-09

Are you nervous about classes,
a report card - or a test,
a landlord, an X-ray, a dentist,
professor - or the rest?

Why should we pay attention to
our little worldly worth -
and why are we so nervous 'bout
the finite things of earth?

Goodness flows through all of us
and evil is but frozen,
for we, with faith in Him above
are His, as He has chosen.

So walk in reverent footsteps of
our Lord and Savior, Jesus -
for God created, retains control,
and He is leading us!

A Loving Kiss 11-27-06

There sits a mom - without her baby,
hands clasp and trembling in her lap alone;
She still ponders how it could have happened,
and now can't hold the girl she could have known,

There sits a dad crying deep inside,
the girl who 'could have been' is but a blur.
Torments endless curses keep him hanging,
on absent memories that just never were.

There's a child who never saw her parents -
was not allowed a single hug to give;
Nor allowed to say, "I love you mommy."
She had no rights - not even just to live....

Forever lost - a life of innocence -
receiving, not one speck of human love!
Yes, pain and sorrow is all around us,
but God’s in control. He waits there up above.

We fall short and fail - believe it's over.
Sadness ruptures the heart of every size.
Heartache spawns yet more excessive sorrow,
all caused by deaths dark cold, black, evil lies.

Understand one thing - that we aren't perfect.
Nowhere can we turn our vain and evil face!
There's no hope to quell one sin within us,
except by faith in Him who showers grace.

Our possessions will rot and turn to dust,
but forgiveness comes - from the God of peace!
Persevere through faith - your full trust in Him.
His love is full and it will never cease.

There's a child who never saw her mother,
but forever, we must remember this;
That God, in love, reached down and took her -
and gave her, in His arms, a loving kiss.

1 Timothy 1:5 (NASB)
“But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”
