A Proud American! 1-24-13

---
This poem ain't a good one.
It may be crass and mean -
but if you read a few more lines,
you'll see what I have seen:
---

I care about appearance. I'll show off latest trends.
I'll change the way I talk and act impressing all my friends.

Don't call me dumb and stupid. I'm not a bit insane -
yet clueless as to pricing so I angrily complain.

First I waste my money on some foreign plastic toy -
and then complain there are no jobs in states like Illinois.

I vote for those who give me stuff like total free health care -
then think I won't be paying it (naively unaware)...

I want a king or emperor to handle my provisions -
tell me how to act and think and make all my decisions.

Don't call me dumb and stupid. I'm just confused with facts.
Just promise me more goodies now. The rich can pay my tax.

Just deposit, every month, some cash to my account -
and I'll be so contented. Keep track of my amount!

The 'Bill of Rights" I'll never need - so scrap them all today.
I'm in a state of ecstasy when I hear what you say.

Wow! Every time I hear you speak, my knees begin to go.
I faint within your promises - oh, how I love you so!

Abortion I don't care about as long as it's not me.
Allow me my vacations so that I can feel free!

My 1st amendment, I can't use. Why bother I, to preach -
that people ought not kill or steal? ( 'cause that's for you to teach ).

And I don't need the 2nd so protect me from my gun.
Should someone point a gun at me, I'll just call 9-1-1.

"Search and seizures" - what are they? You're welcome anytime -
and I won't flush the toilet even once if it's a crime.

The 9th amendment's silly. I have no need for rights -
(nor my responsibilities) - so stop these petty fights.

The 10th amendment, I nix too, awaiting your dictates.
Let's call ourselves "United" and eliminate the "States".

United, we'll be holding hands as one huge human chain -
and simply jump the border here if we spin down the drain.

Though foreign countries snicker, I'll vote again for you.
For I'm a proud American. My insolence shines through!

Grocery Cart, The 3-20-11

I saw a grocery cart today,
and overflowed, it was, I'd say.
It proudly wore the biggest smile -
pushed along in latest style.

Wow!  Every type of food I saw -
from T-bone steaks to carrots, raw.
Until unto the checkout came -
it didn't seem to look the same.

Now this is what it was about -
when all the food was lifted out...
but don't we understand it still -
that God has overflowed our fill?

Unless sincere and broken are,
grace resides at farthest star.
If faith is absent, there's no grace
outside the walls of Heaven's space.

Wear humbleness and faithful be,
with fruitfulness that's as the sea -
and diligence we must maintain,
for if we're lost - life's all in vain.

And though that cart was quite a sight -
received it not, one single bite.
So don't be like that grocery cart -
that's stuffed with grace, but has no heart.

Hebrews 5 (NASB)
13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness,
for he is an infant.
14 But solid food is for the mature
who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.

Faith, Fruit, Teach, Preach 9-29-09

FAITH. Did God 'create' it long ago -
Have we endurance as we go? / James 1:2-4
Are we so deaf we cannot hear? / Micah 7:16
What proves our fruit from year to year? / Matt 7:15,16

FRUIT. Did God 'create' it long ago -
Have we endurance as we grow? / Matt 7:17-19
Are we so blind we cannot see, / Isaiah 42:18
and why "so little faith," have we? / Matt 6:30

TEACH. Does God 'create' it as we learn -
and produce it, do we, as we yearn? / Luke 12:11,12
Are we so dumb we cannot reach? / John 20:27
Are we so weak that we can't preach? / Heb 11:32-34

PREACH. Does God 'create' it as we learn -
and produce it, do we, as we burn? / Rom 10:1
With humbleness and sincere speech, / Titus 2:7,8
do us ourselves, we also teach? / Rom 2:21

James 1:2-4 (NASB) 2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Micah 7:16 (NASB) Nations will see and be ashamed
Of all their might
They will put their hand on their mouth,
Their ears will be deaf.

Matthew 7:15,16 (NASB) 15 "Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 "You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?

Matthew 7:17-19 (NASB) 17 "So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 "A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. 19 "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Isaiah 42:18 (NASB) 18 Hear, you deaf!
And look, you blind, that you may see.

Matthew 6:30 (NASB) "But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!

Luke 12:11,12 (NASB) 11 "When they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not worry about how or what you are to speak in your defense, or what you are to say; 12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say."

John 20:27 (NASB) Then He said to Thomas, "Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing."

Hebrews 11:32-34 (NASB) 32And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets, 33 who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, 34 quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.

Romans 10:1 (NASB) Brethren, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation.

Titus 2:7,8 (NASB) 7 in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, 8 sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.

Romans 2:21 (NASB) you, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that one shall not steal, do you steal?

A Matter Of Time 6-15-09

....That one specific day will come
when we will feel real dumb.
What do we know?
What do we really know?

One day we will pull off our mask
and to ourselves will surely ask,
"Where did life go?"
"Where did life really go?"

Hither, yon - we ever transfer
but as of yet - have no answer,
"What's the purpose?"
"What's the real purpose?"

With the barber, dentist, grocer -
our own funeral's getting closer.
"What seeds did we sow?"
"What seeds did we really sow?"

Our bodies rot, our souls will live.
Did faith endure? Did God forgive?
"Where do we go?"
"Where do we really go?"

Life is silly, so absurd
with all the things that we have heard.
"How low does it get?"
"How low does it really get?"

Does it go as low as hell,
if in our soul the Devil dwell?
"Does it make us sweat?"
"Does it make us really sweat?"

....that one specific day will come
when we will feel real dumb.
What do we know?
What do we really know?

Will on that specific day we know,
if our souls are really white as snow?
Will we be ready?
Will we be really ready?

Grace is here for everyone
but faith is only held by some.
Oh, it's just a matter of time,
we'll know this world ain't worth a dime.

What do I know?
What do I really know?
We, each other, simply mime.
It's just a matter of (God's) time....
