The End 7-6-09

Oh, 30,000 days or so -
those are the pages most will go.
Though maybe sooner in our book -
Just read your pages - take a look.

Learning life had just begun -
began to walk and then to run.
Trips to the zoo - the lion cage.
Another day, another page....

Then in school with papers, pens,
socially too, made special friends.
We passed the adolescent age.
Another day, another page....

We had life all figured out
and through our thoughts there was no doubt -
Life was good, our friends engaged.
Another day, another page....

Support abortion on demand!
A baby? Not what we had planned.
If some oppose, then get enraged!
Another day, another page....

Money too and debt thereon,
with all we got our hands upon.
We then demanded a big wage.
Another day, another page....

Focused on ourselves instead -
chapter after chapter read.
The time flew fast and we had aged.
Another day, another page....

Final wrinkles took their hold -
when we admitted getting old.
Alone we lived - our final stage.
Another day, another page....

Searching, searching, day to day,
we filled our books in our own way -
Though some fought death, by "hook or crook" -
we knew that God still held the book.

God's fast-food strength, they came upon -
and instant Grace they cashed in on -
but faithless days and days of sin -
the 'Book of Life', their names are in?

It's not too late to humble some,
and to our God and Savior come.
If Jesus in my book will spend -
then happy are the words: "The End"

Words on pages, perfect spelled,
when in His hands our books are held.
Our God and Savior we'll discover -
when He closes our back cover....

A Very Good Person 5-17-06

.
I should say you're a very good person,
Your countenance proves you are real;
But under that mask of a smile,
I'm really not sure you can feel.

I should say you're a very good person,
For you give to the sick and the poor;
Though you think of yourself very highly,
I'm sure without debt you'd give more.

I should say you're a very good person,
Your love and compassion are vast;
You are your most favorite of persons,
While you put all the rest of us last.

I should say you're a very good person,
On Sundays I see you in church;
If I really don't think that you're perfect,
I'll continue more years of research.

I should say you're a very good person,
Your intelligence makes you a whiz;
So I won't tell you all about Jesus,
Because you know all that there is.

I should say you're a very good person,
There's nothing that you can do wrong;
And if I could read all about you,
I know that the book would be long.

I should say you're a very good person,
But it'd probably all go to your head;
So I'll just say good bye for the moment,
But think "and good riddance" instead.
